The Warehouse yesterday

Posted by Tanos on Sun 27 Nov 11, 7:15 PM

Thank you so much, every one who came and made The Warehouse such a great event! We had 60 people through the door plus about half a dozen more who were helping to run the event and also participated. I counted 12 pony carts, and so this was one of the biggest pony play events ever in the UK.

The singletail whips were in an adjacent room and I was busy in the bigger halls with the ponies most of the time. However, judging by the constant background noise of cracking and all the enthusiasm that I did see, then that part of the event worked well too.

We did have a little puppy and kitten play, and that's a side of the event that we could publicise more in the future. The November cold was also felt by some people, and there were some good suggestions for making an area to get warm. Clearly warning people to bring outdoor clothing would be a good idea too.

Towards the end of the day we had pony cart races, with each driver and pony having two goes at a timed lap of the course through the two big halls. There was a nail biting finish with a tenth of a second shaved of a seemingly unassailable lead in the very last attempt of the event. A well deserved award to the best dressed pony and driver of the day was also awarded.

For me, the best element of the day was the amount of trying things out done by people who hadn't arrived with their own equipment. Particularly for pony carting, it's not easy to have a go yourself if you don't know anyone already involved, and yet at The Warehouse we had many people watching how it worked and then asking to try it out. Hopefully some of them will go on to build or buy their own carts next :)

I'd also like to add my thanks to @midstar and @Dragon_George and the rest of the Exodus team for all the support they gave in making the event happen (even knocking through an extra doorway to give us a course that used both big halls!)

We're hoping to have the next The Warehouse event in the spring, and I hope to see lots of you there making it another great event.
