Bridgewood : Plans : Byelaws

These byelaws give a flavour of how Bridgewood will be run as a place where D/s is the norm and acknowledged. For more general details, please see the plans overview page.

Bridgewood Byelaws

Bridgewood is a privately owned woodland dedicated to BDSM. Your continued presence at Bridgewood means that you agree to abide by these byelaws.

I. Invitations and Passes
All visitors to the wood must either be accompanied by the Landowner, or visit during designated Event Days as a Guest or Passholder. New passholders may be proposed by existing passholders, and after receiving an invitation from the Landower, visit the wood with the Passholder who vouched for them. After their visit, guests may apply for a renewable Annual Pass.

II. Bailiffs
Bailiffs are appointed for the day by the Landowner of Bridgewood. Visitors agree to follow their decisions about safety, behaviour towards other visitors, and the operation of the wood.

III. Respect for property
The private ownership of Bridgewood itself, the persons of visitors themselves and their possessions must be respected at all times. Please do not touch or use other people's property without their permission.

IV. Risks and safety
Please think through the risks associatied with any activity before starting, and ask for advice if you are unsure. As an outdoor environment, the wood may have unfamiliar risks - for example, soil-borne infections like tetanus.

V. Confidentiality
Do not break confidences about what is done or said at Bridgewood against the wishes of those involved. No photography is permitted without explicit permission from the Landowner. Please behave appropriately when entering or leaving the site or in areas which can be seen or heard by people outside the wood, as we do not wish to annoy or alarm neighbours and members of the public. In particular, do not make very loud noises deliberately, such as repeated shouting or screaming.

VI. Wildlife and plants
Please avoid trampling undergrowth and do not enter roped-off planting areas. For reasons of conservation and safety, do not fell trees or branches unless under the direction of a bailiff. No pet animals will be permitted.

VII. Collars
We ask submissives in relationships to wear a visible neck collar owned by their dominant. Please do not wear your own collar. Anyone wearing a collar will be treated as under the authority of the collar owner, who will be responsible for their actions. Anyone not wearing a collar will be treated as a free and independent individual for the purposes of these byelaws. Unattached submissives may request a Bridgewood collar for the day if they choose.

VIII. Right of Way
On rides and tracks, the order of right of way will be pony cart drivers, then people without collars, then wearers of personal collars, then wearers of Bridgewood collars.

IX. Right of Challenge
When moving about the wood unaccompanied by bailiffs or people not wearing collars, those in collars should identify themselves, their collar's owner and state their business before continuing when challenged by a bailiff or someone not wearing a collar.

X. Authority over slave labourers
Wearers of Bridgewood collars and others assigned to Bridgewood slave labour duties are under the authority of the wood's bailiffs.
