A buzzard, perched high in the branches (8 Mar 10)
On the day I took this picture of a buzzard, high in the branches of an ash tree, there seemed to be several buzzards around, soaring overhead or flying out into the fields and then back into the high trees in the wood. The pheasants were understandably quite skittish too!
Start of the North Ride (1 Nov 09)
Start of the North Ride, taken from the T-Junction with the Middle and South rides on Hallowe'en 2009. Up until it was widened and opened up to the sky, it had just been a narrow track through the woods.
Buzzard, in the Glade at Bridgewood (27 Sep 09)
A common buzzard, perched on one of the tree stumps in the Glade. I got this one picture before it decided to fly off into the trees. The buzzards have been spotted several times in the area of the Glade and the adjoining stretch of the Middle Ride, and opening up these spaces has probably encouraged them, as they prefer the edges of woodlands rather than dense areas.
Cage pit (2 Sep 09)
Camera phone picture of the interior of the cage pit. There's another picture showing its weather proof cover. It's about 3ft deep, with a foot or so above ground. The wooden floor isn't visible.
Cage pit (2 Sep 09)
Camera phone picture of the upper part of the cage pit's walls and its roofing-felt covered top. There's another picture showing inside.
Ladder Rack (19 Aug 09)
Built by EricStanton and PhoenixAmber, and mentioned in this weblog post.
Radio box (27 Jul 09)
Whipping-frame, picnic tables, and camp fire (27 Jul 09)
Camp-fire of seasoned hazel logs in the Glade, near the picnic tables and a tripod made of freshly cut hazel poles.
Hazel whipping frame and cuffs (13 Jul 09)
Tripod in the Glade, made of freshly cut hazel poles with leather cuffs.
Stream (13 Jul 09)
A secluded spot on the bank of a boundary stream, under a sycamore tree. A good place to send someone down to draw water, as the stream never dries out even in high summer.
Hazel poles (13 Jul 09)
Freshly cut hazel poles, stacked in front of the wood pile in the Glade.
