Bridgewood contract and plan
Posted by Tanos on Wed 20 Feb 08, 12:53 AM
I've now received the draft contract and title plan for Bridgewood, and I
understand the local searches are being done. Hopefully we can complete at
the start of next month. Getting an accurate map of the property prompts the
idea of doing more detailed mapping myself, and I'm thinking of doing a
rough GPS survey to identify some of the features such as the glade
shown in my first woodland
post and the central clearing.
It's surprisingly easy to get disorientated in a wood like this due to the
density of the regrowth: when
I went down to photograph the site before making the offer, I found myself
repeatedly believing I was still heading, say, due east, only to find myself
meeting the south boundary first.
(This kind of situation always reminds me of Tolkien's description of the
Old Forest forcing the hobbits down towards the river bank: "thick bushes
and matted undergrowth, which somehow would not yield to the left, but only
gave way when they turned to the right ... and always to the left and
upwards it was most difficult to find a way, and they were forced to the
right and downwards. ... They were being headed off, and were simply
following a course chosen for them - eastwards and southwards, into the
heart of the Forest and not out of it.")
Identifying exactly where things are will
also help with sightlines etc when it comes to BDSM use of the wood and
eventually with laying out the tracks.

(I welcome comments and feedback, although I don't guarantee to show
them all
and they won't appear immediately. My
contact
details page provides other ways of getting in touch.)
